‘Active Healthy Children in Marginalised Communities: Challenges, Achievements, and Vision for the Future’ was the topic of a public lecture on 10 November by Honorary Professor Uwe Pühse, Professor of Sport Science at the University of Basel, Switzerland, and Director of the Department of Sport, Exercise and Health.

MAY

The Faculty of Humanities' Raymond Mhlaba Centre for Governance and Leadership presented the 2022 Raymond Mhlaba Lecture - Moving from Bureaucracy to Revrocracy: The Role of Managers in Promoting Good Governance on 17 May 2022 on Zoom. The lecture was presented by Professor Dovhani Thakathi. 

 

 

 

 

The Faculty of Humanities presented the inaugural Archbishop Thabo Makgoba Annual Public Lecture on Value-based leadership: Conversations with an African woman pioneer with Dr Gloria Serobe. The lecture took place on 19 May 2020 in the South Campus Council Chambers.

SEPTEMBER

The Faculty of Law at Nelson Mandela University, hosted an online public lecture by Dr Henry Lerm. The lecture was held online on Wednesday, 30 September 2020. The subject of the lecture was "Introducing interdisciplinary learning for Medical and Law students at university: a path to good ethical practice".

The 10th Annual Steve Biko Lecture was hosted virtually on MS Teams by Nelson Mandela University on 21 September 2020. Guest Speaker: Prof Ibbo Mandaza, Respondent: Prof Simphiwe Sesanti, Moderator: Ms Zandile Radebe and Facilitator: Mr Sonwabo Stuurman.

FEBRUARY

Former Malawian President Dr Joyce Banda believes that women go into leadership to serve and not to rule. This was but one of the many leadership nuggets shared at the Women and Leadership in Africa public lecture hosted at Nelson Mandela University’s South Campus Auditorium by the new Centre for Women and Centre Studies on Saturday 29 February.
